Photogene for iPad

Photogene for iPad Developer:Mobile Pond Version 1.2

$3.99

This is a very comprehensive image editor that even if you are not one to edit images much on your iPad (I’m not) you’ll find yourself wanting to apply these effects because it is so quick and easy.

There is an iPhone version but I have been trying and having a play with the iPad one. The iPad version is redesigned to take advantage of the large screen and processing power of the iPad. It makes it very easy to edit photos “on the go” and I found myself editing a lot of them by adding some simple effects, fixing red eye, and adding a border or two!

From their site:

With Photogene you can: Enhance photos with multiple color adjustment: adjust color levels, exposure, contrast, saturation or manipulate the RGB. Apply filters such as the sharpen or the pencil filter. Crop, straighten and rotate your image. Add fun effects like text balloons, frames or special filters. Photogene introduces a powerful, yet very simple to use interface and lets you focus on making your photos better.

Overall this is a good app that does a lot for the price. I did find a little bit of a learning curve getting used to their icons of what everything does, at first the export button seemed like an undo button and some of the others I just had to click them all too see what they do.  There is a tutorial but I just wanted to jump straight in. I almost think I might prefer the choice to just have text labels for the options over the images.

Worth a look at.

@bob I totally agree- it’s funny but I do the same I have a few apps that I always keep as the “showcase wow factor” ones for people who think it’s a toy only. It’s such a great device!

Excellent demo and it’s a great app, one of the first ones I show off to those who think that the iPad is just a consumption device.
