cliqcliq colors: This app from the productivity category is a great tool for designers.
Price: $2.99 Developer: cliqcliq Version: 2.2 [ED NOTE: ON SALE FOR $0.99 UNTIL MARCH 1st first time this app has been on sale!]
This is a colour picker which lets you save and manage your colour palettes. It has many options within it and is a worthwhile tool if you are picking precise colours or work with design.
Some of the good features about this app is the amount of choice it gives you. You can get colours from photos you have in your library, take a new photo or get them from flikr. You can then save the photos with the palette, but this is an option that you can disable if you just want the colours created from it.
You can also make your own colours and save them so you have a unique color palette. The layout of this app is pretty straight forward if you are used to working with pallets in any of the main photo editing software.
You can see the colour values in Hex, RGB, CMYK and HSB. The palettes can then be emailed or saved to cliqcliq. The formats of the palettes are compatible with Illustrator, Photoshop and Word, but you can also save them as text, csv and bmp files.
The app has a great icon, which is also a consideration for me. Because of what this app does, it is one that would stay on your device, so I think the icon is really important.
If you use any of the online or applications for picking colours I think you will find this app becoming a necessity. It’s great for those times when you are thinking about a colour scheme and you want to have a play around while it is fresh in your mind. Also if you are away from your machine, you could show a client, discuss with work colleagues / friends etc about a colour scheme you are planning for your projects.
In this new version, they updated the speed at which the app responds. It would be great if they had a lite version so you could try it, maybe just limit to one palette or similar.
