[Editor: this game is now released!]
This game going to hit the App Store on the 29th of March so get your wallets ready!
I’ve been lucky enough to have a play and it’s a keeper.
Ok, so it’s Bejeweled right? It’s the same? Not quite. I like bejeweled as much as the next person, for that quick action play and the easy scoring, etc etc. But this adds something fresh to it, and I think I had forgotten why I liked Bejeweled so much in the first place. It has given it some new life.
When I first opened the game it gave me the option of logging into Open Feint, which I did cause I’m competitive like that *winks*. Then once confirmed it loads it’s opening screen which sort of falls into place. Here you can jump straight into play, find out how to play, change options or checkout the leaderboards. I jumped straight in!
(For your information though the options include auto hints, sound effects and music. Auto hints are enabled as default.)
There are some crazy effects, and as you tilt your device the game tilts with you. I don’t want to give too much away but it is very quick to play and get into without needing instructions and there are many different power-ups that you can use. You can also unleash “heroic” abilities and this really clears that screen fast! It is also ready to go for the iPad and Android too! All bases are covered it seems. There are 21 levels and I haven’t got through them all, but the ones I have seen are very animated and dazzling.
I’m not yet sure of the pricing but this does seem to have a lot of scope for continuous gameplay and appeal to the whole family.
Usually for me, I am not a huge fan of someone re-making an already tried and tested formula. I like games to be pushing those boundaries and coming up with new and unique content, but at the end of the day this app is very polished and professional and adds to that style of game.
