Christine isn’t happy this time. She has some pretty strong opinions on the entire Lifestyle category!
Oh-Oh, can you find her an app that is worth the, erm, 0′s & 1′s it’s written with?

Hattie looks at Epicurious (FREE), Developer CondeNet Christine looked at iShoes (FREE) Developer MobileAppStudio and Lotto@UK (FREE) Developer WeesWares.
Watch it & watch out! x

Can you help? What apps have you found that are the gems in Lifestyle? Or is there an app missing that you would love to see? Should this category be doomed to app destruction ville?

Thanks for that Natetronn!! I wasn’t aware of appminer, there’s so many fab things out there. I’m going to get it as well :)

Shoes or girls in bikinis (and fish nettings), that’s going to be difficult choice.

Love the app sniper too by the way. Oh, I also use app miner, which is free and has an online version: http://www.appminer.com/

Interesting hearing a developers point of view. I think that category just misses the mark a bit. Had a look at your app (loving the icon!) and yes I think Productivity is more suited, nice app – useful and very niche.

After (temporarily) putting a couple of my apps in the Lifestyles category, I’ve resolved never to do it again. It’s difficult to compete against those bikini apps. I think they’re tacky, but judging from their popularity, a lot of people are willing to pay money for them.

When I released my knitting/crochet app, Ewe Stash, I chose Productivity for its main category, even though Lifestyle made more sense in a way. It seems to be doing fine there.

Here’s a shortcut to the iTunes like for Ewe Stash if you’re curious: http://tinyurl.com/ewe-stash-app

I agree the cooking types are useful (ish, you still gotta do the cooking!) but noticed the app store has made a new category called ‘food’ so I guess they will go in there soon? Around Me your right is an ok one too. Hope you’re not trying to prove me wrong! heh Thanks for commenting.

Only ‘lifestyle’ apps I use (!) are

White Noise (great for going to sleep listening to waves, rain or amazon forest)
Around me (although not perfect – quite good)
eBay (maybe this isn’t a lifestyle only app! Should it be in productivity or utilities)
Big Oven (very useful – especially for a bread and butter pudding recipe)

    regards
