CoPilot UK Developer: ALK Technologies Version: 220.127.116.119
Live SatNav app CoPilot has saved me a few times. I got this app after asking around about the differences between the top players, and even though it is the most expensive app I have ever purchased, I completely think it is worth the cash. You can put in your favorites, or places that you go to often (home for example) and it will work from a postcode or street or you choosing a place on a map. You can pay in app for the ability of reading the directions to you which I did upgrade as that is pretty essential with this type of app. It has worked so well re-routing me when I go wrong and getting me to my destination. Brilliant app.
Aftermath Developer: Twoheads Games Version:1.0.1
I have been getting a little tired of all the zombie madness but when I came across Aftermath, I had to give it a try. The controls are really responsive and the atmosphere set up in this game (things like rain, darkness and other various sounds / lighting) makes you get into it so easily. From the start when the first level is a tutorial, you realise that this game will be taking up quite a bit of your time. Total winner.
Pocket Tunes Radio Developer: Normsoft Version: 5.5.2
This is a great radio app. The interface is a little confusing, but it has so many features. The best thing about it is that you can record straight from the radio station. It has all the standard radio app features such as saving your favorite stations, and finding new ones, searching and seeing all your saved recordings in a list. Also, once you have chosen a station to listen to, you can open it in a browser, enabling the radio to play as you use your phone. Brilliant! Once you get used to the initial layout and controls I think it is worth the cash if you listen to radio – I found myself listening to some amazing comedy channels that I didn’t know existed!
This free app would be a great addition to your iPhone especially this time of year. You can preview the National Trust properties / places in the area you are in, or actually look at the entire list and then go to that place. Another reason I liked it is that if I was going to go to one of the places, I would then go to my mac, look up on a browser for opening times and costs etc, here you can do all of that with one click. All the essential information right away which makes this a real winner.
Soundrop Free Developer: Develoe Version: 1.0.1
They are currently working on a pro version of this app, but I just think it’s so sweet and a fun idea that I had to give it a mention. Really simple concept and great for all ages, all you do is draw a line somewhere on the screen and when the ball drops it hits the line and makes a sound. (double tap to delete your line) The ball bounces and you can draw more lines and quickly build up a little song of the noises. Really easy to use, instantly satisfying and it gets addictive to create great little tunes.
BikeTrail Developer: agole Version: 1.0.1
This is an app to track and record your location once you activate it. It places markers along your route so you can see exactly where you have been, the miles covered and you can tweet out your efforts. I think this type of app really encourages you to continually go a little further, or a little faster because of the social aspect to it. It makes cycling an activity that you can track and if you manage to do a few different routes you feel really accomplished. It’s worth checking out the different versions of this app and starting with the FREE one which is limited to just one route… I really still totally hate their icon and it puts me off the app, I can hope that they will work on that aspect of it.
Apps and Hats – the app! You must have seen this coming, well it should be with you soon. This free app will have all the episodes so you can keep me in your pocket, as well as twitter, flickr and a few other goodies while you are there…
Waiting for the approval process and fingers crossed it’s sooner rather than later Hope you get your copy when it’s available. We will post an announcement on the site homepage when it’s ready for action!
Thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed this weeks episode and – hope you join me back here in 2 weeks time for another adventure into app land ~
