Galcon Labs

This is a game that has been described as ‘space risk’, which I think fits it perfectly. What’s great is the game has no learning curve and you can get into playing right away.

Version 1.8 Dev: Hassey Enterprises, Inc

This is the game that I didn’t know I wanted to play until I tried it. I love it!

GalconLabs a really nice surprise. I loved the way the little ships move. It has a really fluid looking arrangement which makes it interesting to watch when you send your ships to attack. Although they are simple triangles, it is fun to watch them attack and then overtake a planet you have aimed at.

One of the great things about this game is how simple it really is yet you still want to play more. You have numbers on your planets, and numbers on the enemies planets. you click and flick your ships to one of the enemy planets and then wait to watch as they attack, as well as them attacking you. This is the basis for the game, but there are several different playing styles and levels.

There is single player and multi-player and within both of those you then have 5 styles of games;

Classic, which is the original style of game play, as I described above, you attacking them.

Crash, has the difference of being able to actually attack the ships in the air so before you even get to their planet you can start attacking the enemy.

Billiards, is the same gameplay but with moving planets so it changes every game.

Stealth is really fun, you can’t see their ships so you have no idea where they are headed to attack.

Assassin is you having a specific target and you have to kill the target planet before your enemy kills yours.

When you launch single player you then also have a huge range of levels to choose from. The Cabin Boy setting which is default, is really easy to play but it makes for a gentle start and really hooks you because you can get through a lot of levels fast. The hardest level to play they have called Grand Admiral and I don’t think I have even won one level playing it. That’s some insane action so good luck to you!

Multiplayer can be played locally, with someone in the same room, or you can create an account at Galcon Labs and then play against the whole universe! Be warned, you will most likely get your erm, get beaten. They take no prisoners and if you play the single player mode and think you’re good then wait for the realization that actually you will completely get owned. Well, that was my unfortunate experience! Great fun though and I go on as a reality check.

In the options they also have colour blind mode and left hand mode as well as being able to set the colours in the game.

I couldn’t think of anything that was really missing or that I wanted to be added to the game. Multiplayer ads a really extra fun factor to the game and with the many different ways to play the game I don’t think you will get bored of it.

Overall, this game offers a lot of play time and diversity with the levels and modes. I think for $0.99 it’s a must have!
